Meet the people behind Stafier | Jelle Wemmers
From vacation work to a promising future in technology
For Jelle Wemmers, what started as a vacation job quickly grew into an opportunity to shape his career. At Stafier, he found not only a place where he could apply his technical skills, but also an environment where he could continue to develop himself. “Here you can grow in your profession. Whether it’s obtaining welding certificates or taking specialized courses, at Stafier you’re given plenty of space to keep improving yourself. That motivates me to get the best out of myself every day.”
Since June last year, Jelle has been working at Stafier, where he is also pursuing a BBL training course to become an All-round Construction Worker. This means he works four days a week on the job and goes to school one day a week. “It’s a perfect combination,” Jelle says. “At school I learn the theory behind the trade, such as knowledge of materials and construction techniques, and then put it directly into practice.”
At Stafier, Jelle’s work is primarily focused on welding and assembly. Although he already had some experience thanks to his previous education and a year working at another company, it took some time to get used to everything after his gap year. “In the beginning I had to refresh my knowledge. But with the guidance and work here, that went pretty quickly. Much of what I do is serial work: at the start, we make sure that the first few products are perfect, then we can produce in full.”
Training opportunities and personal growth
Obtaining his welding certificates is an important part of Jelle’s education. “Those certificates show that you can weld to the highest quality standards. You learn how to make sure there are no cracks in the metal and that the work meets all requirements. That’s important for the reliability of our products.”
But Jelle is already looking beyond his current study. In fact, at Stafier there are plenty of opportunities for further growth. “When I complete my study, I’d like to take additional courses and earn more certificates. For example, in specialized welding techniques, such as TIG welding, or training in working with new materials and machines. The more you learn, the more versatile you become. That only makes your work more interesting.”
Future prospects
Jelle’s goal is clear: He wants to become a true specialist in his field. “Technology keeps evolving and I want to grow along with it. At Stafier, I get that opportunity. I feel right at home here and see myself working here for a long time to come.”
