An innovative start in sustainability

What started as a hobby that got out of hand at BioBlocks grew into a sustainable company that reuses organic material. Production began on a small scale, but soon the demand grew and the production process came under scrutiny. Now they use Stafier drying boards for the drying process. And Teun Voets, production manager and project leader at BioBlocks, is very enthusiastic about it. Read on!

At BioBlocks it has been about sustainability from the very beginning. As soon as reed beds in Weerribben-Wieden National Park are flattened and/or excavated, some of the released material is collected, compressed and dried naturally. The result? Sustainable building blocks that are used for various applications.

Professional solution

During the drying process, Stafier’s products play a large part. Because the blocks are dried naturally, this process takes an average of six to ten weeks, depending greatly on the weather. In the early stages of BioBlocks, the company used makeshift boards composed of different materials. But soon demand increased and it became clear that a more professional solution was needed to scale up more efficiently.

Immediately convinced

Through online searches, Stafier came into the picture. “I was immediately convinced that Stafier could help us further,” Teun looks back. “Especially after I sent some photos of the existing boards. In no time I was presented with a ready-made solution. I was completely amazed. They knew exactly what I needed and they did that without knowing the exact dimensions. So it didn’t take long until we agreed on the quote.”

Fast and flexible

“Stafier’s speed and flexibility are impressive and communication is always smooth. So we like the cooperation. And should we scale up our production further in the future, I will certainly reach out to them again!”
