The faces behind Stafier | Aleksandra Nikiel

Welding, working together and continuing to learn: for Aleksandra Nikiel, working at Stafier is much more than just metalworking. “You get responsibility here as well as the chance to keep developing.”

Aleksandra is originally from Poland and began her career at Stafier. With little experience, she began directly working in shipping and quality control. Her interest in technology quickly grew and, with the help of colleagues, she learned step by step the different techniques within the production process. “I find it interesting to keep developing myself and learn something new all the time,” she said. She works in production and performs her job with pleasure and dedication.

A varied working day

She now works as a welder in the production hall and no day is the same. “The day starts with a technical drawing. Then I know exactly what needs to be done. I often work on projects involving metal sheets. Depending on the project, I work alone or as part of a team.” In doing so, she always carefully follows safety rules and carefully checks the quality of the work.

Growing in the profession

In addition to welding, Aleksandra is involved in quality control, machine operation and warehouse work. “I learn something new at each place, but feel most at home in production,” she says. If she can’t figure something out or has questions, she just knocks on the door of her colleagues. They are always there for her and happy to help. “That makes me feel comfortable and safe!”

Engineering is also for women

Engineering still mainly employs men, but that doesn’t mean that women don’t belong here. “As a woman, you can do this work just as well and even build a nice career in it. You just have to show what you can do. All my colleagues are helpful, respect me and also ask me for help or advice. You have to be strong and be able to focus, but that applies to everyone.”

Proud and determined

Her advice to women interested in working in engineering? “Just do it! The work is fun and educational. You keep developing yourself as long as you are willing to work hard.”

Increasingly, we see women in engineering. Also at Stafier. There is even an International Day of Women in Engineering, which takes place every year on June 23! This day is dedicated to raising awareness and celebrating the achievements of women in technical professions. Aleksandra responds enthusiastically, “That’s my day! Actually, every day is my day, haha!”
